Corporate Refugees: Navigating the Transition to Self-Employment

I heard a really interesting phrase the other day: "Corporate Refugee." It's a term I like for two reasons. Firstly, I am one. And secondly, it’s these people that I love working with.

I am referring to people who have left large organisations to start their own businesses. Whether a former employee of a FTSE 100 company, or a bank (like me), or a public sector organisation, the transition to self-employment can be daunting.

Corporate refugees are often highly skilled in their professions. They might be exceptional gas fitters, architects, physiotherapists… But running a business requires an additional set of skills. When you work for a big organisation, you benefit from a support structure that handles sales and marketing, operations, finances. Once you step out on your own, you quickly realise how much you relied on that structure.

This is where Launchpad comes in. Perfect for corporate refugees, Launchpad is a peer-to-peer coaching group that meets once a month. It's a space where like-minded solopreneurs can share their challenges and find solutions. The group provides a supportive environment where everyone can bring their problems to the table and benefit from collective wisdom.

One of the key benefits of Launchpad is the opportunity to learn from others who have faced similar challenges. Whether it's refining your sales technique, improving your marketing strategies, or mastering the basics of bookkeeping, Launchpad offers practical advice and support. We currently have one space left in our Tuesday group, and four in our newer Thursday group.

Everyone is entitled to a free taster month, so if you're interested, drop me a message to arrange a chat and see how Launchpad can help you succeed in your entrepreneurial journey.
